The following meetings will be held at the DCYF office at 1390 Market St, Suite 900. As a courtesy, please contact mhopson@dcyf.org a few days prior if you plan to attend the meeting.

Feb 16th from 9-11am
Apr 20th from 9-11am
May 18th from 9-11am

The Advisory Council has used work groups of volunteers to move its work forward and ensure a broad group of voices are represented. These work groups were charged with making recommendations to guide the building of a citywide infrastructure to support out-of-school time programs. The work groups convening in 2011 are:

Vision & Alignment Work Group
The goal of this work group is to recommend 1) a citywide vision of afterschool in San Francisco, and 2) identify systemic ways for SFUSD to provide equitable access to quality afterschool programs for all SFUSD students in a way that is understood, embraced, and supported by parents, providers, and schools.

Objectives:
  • Define a vision for out of school time in San Francisco and a tool for programs to report their progress on meeting that vision (such as a year-end report template aligned to the quality tools and 11 elements adopted by the AFA)
  • Explore how to help SFUSD align its ExCEL K-8 programs and its Child Development School Age (K-5) programs in the areas of educational philosophy, materials, training for staff, assessment and evaluation.

Program Quality & Data Work Group

The goal of this work group is to recommend systems and supports to enhance the quality of out-of-school time programs, with a specific emphasis on: a) enhancing the shared understanding of quality in the OST field, and b) data sharing that promotes the delivery of high quality out-of-school time programming.

Objectives:

  • Contribute to the development of a program quality self assessment tool for summer programs, which would complement the school-based and community-based afterschool quality self assessment tools developed for AFA
  • Identify strategies to spread the core competencies in the field
  • Explore systemic data sharing systems and practices that could enhance the quality of out-of-school time services

School-Out of School Time Integration Work Group

The goal of this work group is to recommend systems and supports to enhance out-of-school time and school age integration and coordination.
